Extra Curricular Activities

Enrichment Booklet Summer 2017

Enrichment Programme

The vast majority of our children travel some distance to attend our school and as a result are not always able to stay behind to take part in extra-curricular activities. From September 2016 we have introduced whole school enrichment in order to complement the curriculum in KS3 and KS4 and ensure every child can participate.

This is an exciting opportunity for children to broaden their experiences, acquire new skills, and further strengthen personal and social development, including strengthening teamwork and building positive relationships.

There are opportunities for creativity and crafts, sport, outdoors and volunteering and problem solving.

A booklet is published every term and children are asked to select two different activities per term from the range on offer.

Parents can also offer their skills and expertise and should you wish to do so.

Please contact Mrs Hartley with your ideas and further details: phartley@huntcliffschool.co.uk

Extra Curricular Activities

Extra curricular timetable

We are proud at Huntcliff to offer a full range of extra-curricular activities. These activities range from sporting and musical opportunities to arts and craft and revision and include trips and visits locally and further beyond.

The extra-curricular activities are communicated to pupils by their teachers and also displayed on the screen in the school canteen on a weekly basis for students to see.

If students are unsure they should check with their teacher.

Parents and Carers - for more information please contact your child's teacher.

Equestrian Team

In addition to providing non riders the opportunity to ride, our experienced riders have had the opportunity to compete in local and inter-school competitions in a variety of equestrian disciplines.

This has given our gifted and talented riders the opportunity to represent the school and to shine. For many of our students horse riding is a major part of their lives and something at which they excel, we hope that by supporting and encouraging this we can motivate students in other areas of school life.

Sport

At Huntcliff we have a longstanding tradition of school sport and physical activity that is enriched through its extra-curricular programme. Through the PE department and the School Sports Network students are given many opportunities to be involved in both school teams and the various activities we provide. All students have to do is to grab the opportunity.

During the school year teams, clubs and activities change in order to try and reach as many young people as possible and provide them with a variety of experiences. Students can participate in both traditional and some more non-traditional clubs, which are often linked to local clubs or NGBs. Some examples of activities that have been provided include archery, horse riding, netball, football, cheerleading, Bikeability, badminton, fitness, and rounders.

Information about clubs, one off taster sessions and school competitions are regularly updated through the school website, pupil bulletin and PE notice boards. Updates are also posted on Social Media, eg the Facebook Huntcliff School Sport Page.

As always at Huntcliff the student voice is important to us so if you have any activities you want to try or any positive suggestions please let us know.

Student Voice in sport

The students are the key to our success in physical activity. The student voice is important to us. Here at Huntcliff we recognise that everyone is an individual and students have many opportunities to have a say in what they want when it comes to physical activity and sport. We have a School Sports Council which has members from all years and who work together to create a united approach to enriching the lives of as many pupils as possible. They are also heavily involved in school competition, both taking part and running events for others. If you have any great ideas you want to share or a new activity you want to try see the school PE department.
