01652 648276This is the education that students move on to after year 11. The law requires all young people aged 16+ in England to stay in education or training until their 18th birthday. However, there are several options open to young people:
1. Full-time study at a post-16 setting (full time is approx 18 hours/week for post-16 study).
2. Full time employment or volunteering (20 hours/week) while in part-time education or training.
3. Starting an apprenticeship or traineeship.
Your Options after year 11:
Most students continue on to full time education at a local college or 6th form provision. Here you can take Academic subjects such as A-levels or vocational qualifications which are often linked to a job or area of work
Students can also apply for an Apprenticeship. This is a paid job. You work for an employer learning new skills and you could spend a day each with a college or other training provider to get the qualifications needed for the job.
